ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina will soon have another family member—ABC Home Grown—and its cuisine will be vegetarian with lots of vegan options, according to the New York Post.
While the French are not exactly known for skipping meat and butter, celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten told the newspaper that he goes meatless once a week, and that he sees a growing demand for vegetable-focused cuisine.
ABC Home Grown, which is expected to open in the spring of 2014 in the former Le Pain Quotidien space inside ABC Home & Carpet, will help meet that demand.
While nearly every neighborhood in Manhattan has a healthy hotspot and a juice bar now, the fact that one of the city’s hottest restaurant properties will be dedicated to veggie-focused cuisine will no doubt elevate vegetarian and vegan food’s culinary profile.
