Get Ready to Gain Confidence—and Take Action—in All Areas of Your Life With Meena Harris

Welcome to Well+Good’s (Re)New Year—a five-week expert-led program that’s all about helping you have your best year yet. For Week Three, we’ve brought on Meena Harris—lawyer, tech policy adviser, feminist, and founder of I'm an Entrepreneur, Bitch. (Leadership runs in the family—her aunt is Kamala Harris, the just-elected US Senator from California.) Throughout the week, she'll be sharing her tips for feeling empowered, taking action, and getting ahead—at work and in life.

After graduating from law school, I was bombarded with questions about who I was professionally and what I wanted to do with my career. Moving from Cambridge, MA, to Washington, DC, to work at a corporate law firm didn't seem to make a difference: I was living in a one-industry town, where the first thing people still wanted to know was who you were, and what you did—and it bugged me.

The truth is, I was still figuring it all out. That’s why I started I'm an Entrepreneur, Bitch. It was a fun side business that would allow me to express my creativity while promoting a message of women’s empowerment and owning my passion and purpose. Soon after I launched the brand, it became clear that there was an entire community of women out there like me.

Now, it's become a movement for women's equality in all fields. I want every woman to feel valued and confident to claim any title for herself, so she can make her mark at work—and in anything else she sets her sights on.

This week, I'm going to help you identify what it is you want out of life—and what you need to feel empowered in the work that you do. Most of all, I want us to shift the paradigm of what it means to "have it all."

Women can have full-time jobs, families, hobbies and interests, and even side-hustle projects that they're passionate about—and work tirelessly to fight for gender equality and social justice.

Over the next five days, I want you to take stock of all of your potential and channel that into success—however you define it. I'm going to help you establish what inspires you, makes you passionate, and drives you to succeed. And I'll show you how to set up some goals and ideas for cultivating confidence, taking action, and making lasting change in your life (and our world).

Because of the fast-changing political and social world we're now living in, women need to take care of themselves—and then power into action. It's time to join the troops and create a world that we are proud of (and that our children will be proud of).

My only requirement? That you keep an open mind and promise to take yourself outside of your comfort zone—and maybe grab a super-chic notebook to jot down all of your amazing ideas! (Also be sure to check in on Instagram for a sneak peek into my entrepreneurial life—plus answers to any and all questions—when I take over the Well+Good account this Thursday, January 19.)

Ready to go? Check back for the first of many confidence-boosting tips tomorrow—and don’t forget to show me how you’re implementing the (Re)New Year program using #iamwellandgood!

Well+Good’s (Re)New Year is a five-week, expert-led program that isn’t focused on changing you. (Let’s be honest: You’re pretty great as you are.) Instead, it’s all about rebooting and reestablishing habits that will help you have your happiest (and healthiest!) year yet.

Each week we’ll be focusing on a different theme with a different ultra-inspiring pro—from eating cleaner to getting empowered in the workplace. Don’t want to miss a single day? Sign up for our newsletter to get it delivered directly to your inbox, and follow us on Instagram for regular check-ins!
