No Tara Stiles yoga classes at Deepak Chopra’s Homebase at ABC Home

Shoppers at ABC Home & Carpet can rest easy knowing that their $7,000 sofa won’t come christened with yogi sweat.

Contrary to a report published Monday on Vital Juice, star-yogi Tara Stiles has decided not to teach regular yoga classes at Deepak Chopra’s HQ inside the Union Square home design store.

While the Slim Calm Sexy Yoga author and Strala Yoga owner was originally going to be bringing her popular Sanskrit-free classes to her most famous student’s NYC home base, several factors caused the change in plans.

The classes at ABC were going to be donation based, but Stiles didn’t think that that would make sense since she would be teaching paid classes at her own studio in the same neighborhood. There were also logistical issues—namely, the store would have to move heavy furniture before every class. “It just didn’t make sense at the last minute,” said Stiles.

Maybe living room yoga isn’t such a great idea after all?

So how did word get out before the deal was sealed? Stiles and ABC Carpet & Home tweeted the launch event that was supposed to kick off the partnership. “Nothing was confirmed,” said Stiles, but an invitation to the event had been posted to Stiles’ and the ABC Home website, prompting the confusion. Individuals who registered for the event received an email yesterday stating that the event had been “canceled” without explanation.

Not to worry, though, the yoga-meditation partners have plenty of additional collaborations in the works, and Stiles is not ruling out doing an occasional workshop at ABC Home in the future.
