Surfset set to launch classes at Crunch’s new Chelsea location

Surfset Fitness

This January, Surfset Fitness is setting up its indoor surfboards at Crunch’s brand-new gym in Chelsea (19th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues), which is set to open within the next few weeks.

The surfing-inspired workout—which includes paddling and popping up on a destabilizing platform meant to simulate ocean waves—won’t commence its regular classes until 2013.

But Crunch members can test out the waters next Tuesday, October 30 at two demo classes held at the 59th Street Crunch location at 3:30 and 4:15 p.m., and non-members can hop on board at 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. by purchasing a ticket ($25) on

Since its debut last December, Surfset had a pop-up location in Chelsea Market and debuted at the Sports Center at Chelsea Piers (where it will remain on the schedule). Crunch will be its second permanent home.

We love that they’re expanding, but they’ve really got to find a wave that takes them to the East Side, soon.
