UK fitness fashion giant Sweaty Betty is expanding its stateside presence this month, with free in-store workout classes at its new Soho location in New York and a second US store opening in Greenwich, Connecticut.
The Soho store opened on Mercer Street at the end of August and four classes per week will be held in a dedicated studio space in the basement of the store. It’s polished, pretty, and laden with barres, bands, mats, and steamer trunks full of medicine balls and free weights.
The class schedule will get a revamp on a quarterly basis, and you can register up to 24 hours in advance by calling or stopping by. (You technically have to be a “member” to attend, but that just means providing your name, address, and agreeing to get promotional emails).
They’ll also give New Yorkers a taste of UK fitness trends, like London dance cardio class Frame Rave, which will be the featured class for a month as part of the brand’s “Get Fit 4 Free” program.
Outside of New York, in Greenwich, CT, Sweaty Betty’s second US store will open at the end of the month, and the design will meld the brand’s sporty British aesthetic with “nautical accents such as vintage rope and sails to complete the Connecticut summer house feel.”
At this rate, we’ll all have butts like Pippa’s before you know it. —Lisa Elaine Held
