Is 2016 the year that Bulletproof Coffee takes over?

bulletproof-coffee-new-storesBulletproof Coffee is building up its arsenal of buttery brew cafes in Los Angeles—and beyond.

Hot on the heels of opening its Santa Monica flagship location four months ago, the Paleo fave coffee shop will be claiming a second LA location set to open in the downtown Arts District in early 2016. Don’t live anywhere near SoCal? There’s still reason to perk up: Founder Dave Asprey tells Well+Good that several other US cities will be getting the Bulletproof treatment next year, too.

“We’re looking at multiple places—people are demanding Bulletproof Coffee in their neighborhoods, and I’m doing my best to make it happen,” says Asprey, whose signature blend of ultra-pure coffee, unsalted grass-fed butter, and super-concentrated MCT oil is said to result in a more even and sustained level of energy and mental focus than the average cup of joe. “LA is just the beginning for 2016,” he promises.

While Asprey isn’t spilling any details of where, exactly, this next crop of cafes will land, he did confirm a few facts about the DTLA destination. Located on the ground floor of new luxury residential community One Santa Fe, it will include all the same elements of the Santa Monica location, which Asprey says has been “overwhelmingly welcomed” to the beachside ‘hood.

Most notably, the brand’s uber-precise BrewCode computerized coffee-making system will be on hand, while futuristic “bio-hacking technology” will once again factor into the store design (think lighting that shifts based on circadian rhythms and several Bulletproof Vibe Plates, which are vibrating pedestals that are said to stimulate brain and muscle function when stood upon).

Oh, and there’s sure to be a fridge stocked with energizing Fat Water, for those who can’t stomach butter before 9 a.m.

Food will also be part of the Arts District experience, with Santa Monica fan favorites like coconut tortilla tacos and grass-fed beef sliders being joined by some new, top-secret recipes from Bulletproof: The Cookbook, which is based on the principles of Asprey’s last best-seller, The Bulletproof Diet.

We’re feeling more invincible already.
