healthy fast food 2So you can’t swing by the now shuttered Organic Avenue to grab a Broccoli Slaw anymore, but here’s the good news: a whole new crop of spots making quick, healthy food opened in Manhattan this October.

From vegan quinoa sweet potato burgers in Union Square to seasonal, hearty salads in Morningside Heights, these cafes and restaurants should definitely make eating well between (and during) meetings way easier.

By the way, fall’s been a great season for new healthy dinner spots, too, with the debut of vegan fine dining destination Avant Garden in September, the opening of a downtown Pizza Beach location with an even healthier menu, and the return of Rouge Tomate fast approaching. (Though not fast enough.)

About that Organic Avenue thing? Chalk it up to bad management, not a drop in demand for healthy, nutritious options. Here are five brand-new healthy Manhattan (fast) food spots you really need to know about. —Lisa Elaine Held
