Probiotic cold brew coffee is now a thing

probiotic_coffeeIf your a.m. routine includes popping a few probiotics alongside your cold brew coffee, your precious morning minutes just got a bit more streamlined: You can now get your probiotics in that very cup.

Brooklyn-based juice company Jùs by Julie teamed up with the beneficial bacterium producer Ganeden to launch a new powerhouse cold brew coffee line that’s infused with vegan probiotics—the first cold brew-probiotic combo we’ve actually ever seen. (Although not the strangest; we’ve been noticing some surprising foods getting gut-friendly lately.)

Available in both regular and vanilla flavors, the coffee is infused with 1 billion CFUs of vegan GanedenBC30 probiotics, FoodDive reports. The formulation, according to the brand, is designed to boost immune and digestive health and give your body the kick it needs to absorb key nutrients and vitamins. (To get seriously a mighty microbiome, btw, check out our gut health cheat sheet.)

So cheers to that beloved caffeine boost and a happy, healthy gut to start the day—all in one dreamy morning mug. —Alison Feller
