Fun fact: Your go-to smoothie doesn’t have to look green or taste like salad to be packed with some good-for-you veggies.

Just ask Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott, the Insta-trainers behind Tone it Up who love a veggie-packed post-workout beverage. Their source of inspiration? The seasons.

“Crisp, bright veggies are at their most flavorful and nutrient packed during the spring and summer time,” explains Dawn. “Take advantage of the season’s haul and shop for your favorite greens at your local farmers’ market.

If you’re still stuck in a berry rut, the duo’s favorite smoothie-boosting add-ins include parsley, cucumber, lemon, apple, and kale. Especially when they’re combined. “Those ingredients together are refreshing, delicious, and amazing for your skin, nails and body,” Dawn notes.

Another one of their favorites combos? The deliciously refreshing smoothie recipe below, which team Tone It Up created exclusively for Well+Good.

So grab a straw—you’re not going to want to wait until fall for this Tone It Up-approved, tropical-inspired smoothie.
