If Outdoor Voices is the cool-girl brand of activewear, then A.P.C. is its (somehow cooler) fashion-obsessed older cousin. And now, they’re hanging out.

The brands—which are both known for their simplistically chic designs and emphasis on fabric quality—joined forces to create A.P.C.O.V., the ultimate workout-ready, 20-piece capsule collection that launched this week.

The spark started over a year ago, when Tyler Haney (Outdoor Voices’ founder) met Jean Touitou (A.P.C.’s founder) through a mutual friend. “We both share the same aesthetic sensibility that we call ‘inventive minimalism,’ both geek out over these luxurious materials, and share very similar customers,” Haney explains. “The collaboration just made so much sense and we were both so excited.”

The two set off on a partnership, with Haney and her team spearheading the material front while following A.P.C.’s lead on design—not that it was hard for the two to agree on an overall aesthetic. (Touitou enjoyed working with Haney and her team so much, he even invested in the company last year.) The end result? You’ll find everything from running shorts in a subtle three-leaf clover print to nubby gray crop top that would fit right in at one of the French girl-beloved skateboard workout classes.

“We both share the same aesthetic sensibility that we call ‘inventive minimalism,’ both geek out over these luxurious materials, and share very similar customers.”

But while the collection (which ranges from $60 for a hat to $260 for a sweat-wicking anorak) walks that fine line between gym-ready and street-appropriate, don’t call it athleisure. “I’m really against the term,” Haney explains. “I don’t think it does activewear justice, but the way we’ve styled and designed this collection is what people are doing with athleisure. The collection is designed with sweating in mind, but it can very easily be moved into your regular wardrobe and paired with chic, office-ready pieces.”

Haney’s idea of a perfect outfit? Pairing the long-sleeved leotard with leggings for Pilates—and then throwing on a trench coat and leather flats for the street. But better move fast: If history is any indicator, the collection—available at Outdoor Voices and A.P.C., both online and in their stores—will quickly get snapped up by all the other cool girls.
