Somewhere between her gigs as designer of a size-inclusive lingerie line and beauty brand mogul, Rihanna is able to slot in time to her crazy-busy schedule to pull off seriously fierce makeup looks on the reg. (The beauty trendsetter convinced us to use her go-to makeup product, highlighter, on our ears for an extra wow factor, after all.) So it should come as no surprise that while recently sitting in the front row at Louis Vuitton's Spring 2019 menswear show in Paris, she basically stole the show with a trendy pop of makeup brightness in the form of white-eyeliner.

"White eyeliner definitely has an eye-opening appeal," Los Angeles– and New York City–based makeup artist Rebecca Casciano tells me. "It's bright, bold, and a fresh take on the traditional black liquid cat-eye." According to the makeup pro, the winged look first made its way onto the beauty scene in the 1960s, when both white and black eyeliner were used to create graphic lines around the eyes. It made a comeback in the ’90s, and now it has officially arrived in the 21st century. (Thanks, Rihanna.)

To help you master the aesthetic—like, stat—Casciano provides a step-by-step guide for channeling RiRi's eye-popping look before your next girls' night out.

Here's how to get Rihanna's fierce white winged eyeliner look.

1. Start by applying a matte eye shadow that's a shade lighter than your skin tone all over your eyelid.

2. Apply a taupe or a light brown matte eye shadow in the crease of your eye, which contrasts with the white liner to make it really pop.

3. Now for the star of the show: To apply the eyeliner, start at your upper lash line, about three-fourths of the way from the outer corner of your eye, and draw a thin line to the outer corner. Next, draw a second, connecting line below that creates a small triangle. Fill in any open space or gaps in the lines or triangle with your eyeliner.

4. Finish the look with mascara on the top and bottom lashes.

To really complement your white winged eyeliner, make your cheeks rosy with a cream blush and a chic sundress.
