LA finally gets its own multi-label luxury athleisure boutique

It goes without saying that Los Angeles’ athleisure scene is heating up, with everyone from celebrities to healthy chefs launching workout clothes, and top retail brands from New York to London planting West Coast flags. But one recent arrival is giving LA something it hasn’t seen yet: a multi-label luxury boutique that’s completely dedicated to all things active. Now would be the time for you to say to yourself, “What took so long.”

Sweat NSK, which opened this summer in Brentwood, is “like going to Intermix,” proclaims Natalie Fritz, who co-founded the boutique with Susana Yee and Karen Sun. (Fun fact: The trio, who all have fashion backgrounds, met while working out at a nearby Burn 60 studio.)

Instead of shopping one brand head-to-toe, says Fritz, “you can make your own unique statement—you might pick a legging from Lanston, a cute top by Chill by Will, and a bra from Onzie. We’re carrying lines that you aren’t seeing everywhere, and it’s all in one place. There are so many great ready-to-wear boutiques in LA, but nobody has done anything in [the athleisure] space.” In other words, picture Carbon38 or Net-a-Sporter in brick-and-mortar form.

The Westside’s well-to-do residents are falling so hard for the concept that fitness fashion labels are already teaming up with the shop to launch limited-run—and downright exclusive—pieces. For instance, hot New York City brand Alala cut a special style of camo-and-mesh capri tights that can only be found at Sweat NSK, while high-end performance brand Ultracor will be dropping a limited-edition pair of leggings at the shop in late spring.

And collaborations with other lines is not all they’ve got their sights set on. As Yee adds, “Hopefully we’ll start working on our own line soon.”

In the meantime, the shop’s got plenty of covetable leggings, more leggings, and really-need-those-leggings to choose from, including hot yoga-friendly pieces by Human Performance Engineering, Instagram-yogi-approved outerwear by Alo, and cheeky graphic tees by Zoe Karssen. A newly launched e-commerce site has been doing strong business internationally, while those in LA can take advantage of a messenger for same-day, shop-at-home service.

Don’t be surprised if many of your co-workers start complaining about “forgetting” their gym bags at home, as they happily try on their new workout-ready threads.
