Brazil is a magical place: it has churned out uber-supermodels Gisele, Adriana Lima, and Alessandra Ambrosio, for starters. But what do all of these Victoria’s Secret models have in common? They work out. Hard.
If you follow Lima on Instagram, it’s no secret that the Brazilian beauty frequently showcases her fitness game by posting sweaty selfie after sweaty selfie. But in a recent interview with Vogue, she reveals just how much work she puts in (hint: it’s a lot).
“Unfortunately, there is no magic pill—I actually have to put in hard work to stay fit,” says Lima, proving that some long-stemmed beauties who strut the runways aren’t actually born that way.
The model clearly has a special love for boxing, and often posts pictures showing off her enviable guns right outside the ring where she works out (normally Michael Olajide, Jr.’s Aerospace gym in New York City). Lima also reveals that she goes on half-hour runs and neighborhood bike rides—and she just started doing CrossFit.
Besides her healthy fitness habits, she has a pretty regimented beauty routine as well. Her secret? Hydrate, and it’ll show on your skin. “Drinking water will help you glow,” Lima says. “Fill your belly with water to have great skin!” Since she spends so much time in the car, the model fills up a cooler with water and keeps some sliced fruit on hand for healthy snacks.
And for her ultimate hack: a three-ingredient smoothie that gets her going in the morning (and it’s so easy you could probably make it in your sleep).

Add about 1 cup of cold water to the blender. Halve and pit a fresh avocado, then scoop the meat into the blender. Pulse until the mixture combines and grows creamy, then add a small amount of organic honey to taste.“On days when I want something heavier, I do a yogurt and milk base—to start the morning off right,” she says. To make this dairy-fortified version, substitute 1 cup of milk and a 1/2 cup of plain yogurt for water, blend, and enjoy! Your morning is now model-approved.
