Barry’s Bootcamp will open a flagship studio in Hollywood this summer

A pioneering boutique fitness brand that started in Los Angeles is about to get a new Hollywood flagship.

After its 1998 debut in West Hollywood, followed by a brand expansion across the country and beyond, Barry’s Bootcamp will open its largest West Coast studio to date this summer. The new Hollywood flagship will give neighborhoods like Los Feliz, Silver Lake, and Echo Park easy access to the celebrity-fave, butt-kicking interval workout where you alternate sprints on the treadmill with strength training on a weight bench.

“Hollywood has really become a new destination for exactly our demographic, people ages 25-to-35 years old,” says Barry’s Bootcamp COO Joey Gonzalez. “It’s a new neighborhood for young professionals, and it’s exciting because it’s one of the only areas where they’re building up, so it feels very urban.”

Barry’s currently has two Los Angeles studios, in Sherman Oaks and the original in West Hollywood, but the 4,500-square-foot Hollywood location, expected to open as early as June, will be bigger and splashier. It will house 22 Woodway treadmills (Barry’s brand of choice for its joint- and eco-friendly construction), and it will be the first in Southern California to include a full locker room with showers and a smoothie Fuel Bar, which all of the brand’s newer studios have. The price of your sweat sesh at the Hollywood studio will also include free 90-minute parking, which makes us think Barry’s fanatics as far as Santa Monica may even venture east.

Its location is also ideal because it will be in the bottom of Eastown, a new housing development, directly adjacent to a new SoulCycle location to open later this year and a Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop restaurant to open this month (which happens to be owned by Gonzalez’s husband). So you won’t even have to move the car to get a healthy post-workout meal.

Barry’s will follow the Hollywood opening with two more new studios debuting early this summer, in Miami’s Midtown and London’s The City. Which is to say, you probably can’t sprint as fast as the brand is expanding. —Jamie McKillop
