Saturday is the sold-out Flatiron Fitness Biathlon in New York, presented by Athleta, where a lucky crew of Well+Good readers will do two back-to-back workouts at three of the Flatiron District’s top boutique studios. (Wish them luck!)
Because a workout is only as good as the charismatic instructor leading your sweat sesh, we want you to meet the four fun fitness gurus responsible for kicking our Biathlon butts.
Each one is ubertalented—from Team Tone’s Shay Kostabi and Bryn Chrisman to Team Cardio’s Rebecca Kennedy and Leah Clark. And all will bring tough-love, lots of fun encouragement, and rad music, so you’ll be sweating it out in your fitness happy place. Meet them now…
Kostabi is a trained dancer and actress, whose love of movement and music lead her into fitness. She’s also motivated by her own transformation (she lost weight in a test group with Biggest Loser trainer Brett Hoebel’s RevAbs program) and now loves to create and inspire change through fitness—meaning lots of pushups and pulses at the barre. “My class is high-energy and perhaps even a bit edgier than your typical barre class. I expect students to work hard, but I’ll make sure they’re smiling through their sweat.”
Fitness Fashion Style: I want to be clear, my favorite color is leopard. I like mixing street wear with my athletic gear. I want to feel like I can take or teach class and then go out to lunch right after. I love wild leggings, and I’m currently obsessed with wearing with a sports bra and a looser fitting tank, and wedged sneakers for when I walk out the door. Kostabi will be wearing the Athleta Shimmer Seamless Tank and Athleta Plie Tights.
Her Biathlon playlist may include: Happiness (magicians remix) by Sam Sparro, Dare You featuring Matthew Koma (extended remix) by Hardwell, and Everybody Wants to Rule the World cover by Lorde

Chrisman has been teaching yoga since 2003. Her teaching is devotional, transformational, and rooted in Iyengar. While she’s serious about your alignment, she likes to bring humor and playfulness to classes. “I challenge people to go inside, feel space, and learn foundational actions of the asanas. I like students to leave class feeling STRONG & OPEN. That’s my new motto!” she says.
Fitness Fashion Style: I like all white, I like all black. I like tight pants to practice, but I’ll also teach in ones that are loose. I like camo prints and interesting designs, cute things I find in lost and found, and cool athletic wear. Chrisman will be wearing Athleta Empowerment Tank and Athleta Icy Chaturanga Tights.
Her Biathlon playlist may include: Portishead, Radiohead, Gaura Vani, Trentemoller, and LOSCIL.

TEAM CARDIO—BARRY’S BOOTCAMP
Rebecca Kennedy, Barry’s Bootcamp fitness instructor and fitness model
Rebecca Kennedy is tough, motivating, and inspiring. “I am absolutely going to challenge you, duh! But fitness should be fun, I’m here to motivate you to rise to the occasion. And I’m a stickler for form because I care and want you to get to know your body and continue to grow,” says the celebrity trainer and Wilhelmina fitness model. Oh, and did we mention she’s also former USA gymnast and NFL Cheerleader? All the better to encourage you on the treadmill!
Fitness Fashion Style: You can always catch me in layers upon layers. My staples: capris, a sports bra, a fun tank, and killer kicks. Throw on a hoodie and a vest with a beanie and I’m ready to rock. Kennedy will be wearing the Athleta Mendoza Half-Zip, Tempo Seamless Bra Top, and Denim Chaturanga Capris.
Her Biathlon playlist may include: Swine by Lady Gaga, Pave by Carey Nokey, Alive by Krewella, and Walking on Air Remix by Katy Perry.

Leah Clark,Flywheel cycling instructor at Flywheel Sports
“My class style is filled with dynamic intervals as all Flywheel cycling classes are,” says But I’d say my energy is crazy high. I dance a lot on the bike when I’m not riding and you could say I exert a lot of energy vocally via my “Yeaaaaaah” shout outs throughout the class. (If you’ve taken my ride, you know what I’m talking about.) My class is challenging, but I’m probably best known for my music and all around fun ride.
Fitness Fashion Style: You will never see me on the bike without a bandana. It is essential. I LOVE bright colors and prints. The funkier, the better! Clark will be wearing the Athleta Neon Stripe Racerback Tank and Athleta Flirty 2 in 1 Spin Capris.
Her Biathlon playlist may include: LOVING almost anything by Rudimental. You can also expect to hear Lady Gaga’s “Gypsy,” Gotye’s “I Feel Better,” and most likely an old school Britney jam alongside Jay Z, and of course a mash up or two!
