Rise up and tap it back: SoulCycle now has Hamilton-themed rides

I’m what you might call a Hamilton super-fan. No, I don’t stalk Lin-Manuel outside of the Richard Rodgers theater after shows or sleep in the streets looking for cheap tickets—mostly because I have a full-time job—but let’s just say if you were to spot me on the subway, the chances of you taking out an earbud and finding the musical’s soundtrack playing, instead of Rihanna’s latest hit, are pretty good (Sorry, RiRi).

Needless to say, when I got an email back in March about a Hamilton-themed SoulCycle ride at my local studio, you can bet that I signed up faster than Daveed Diggs raps on Guns and Ships.

And in light of Hamilton‘s nearly record-breaking 11 wins at the Tony Awards Sunday night—just short of The Producers‘ record-holding 12 wins—the super-popular spin studio is incorporating even more of the super-popular musical in themed rides across the country, at 62 studios to be exact.

“Our riders cannot get enough of our SoulCycle Hamilton-themed classes. There is nothing more magical than riding to the beat of the music as a pack to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s extraordinary masterpiece,” Gabby Etrog Cohen, senior vice president of the brand’s PR and brand strategy, explains. Amen, girl.

Not only do you get a killer workout, tapping it back to the hip-hopera’s incredibly fast tempo and dynamic music (it didn’t win Best Original Score for nothing), but you’ll also get a full-on show. During my Hamilton-themed ride, the instructor, Drew, led us through an emotional and inspirational ride with the help of our founding fathers—adjusting the lights to fit the mood of each scene and always encouraging an as-loud-as-you-can sing-along.

And considering the show sells out about a year in advance, you won’t be surprised to know these classes have been selling out in mere minutes. But hey, if you’re not lucky enough to snag a coveted ticket to the play (do you even have to ask if I have seen the show?), then consider this a super-sweaty second-best bet.

To find a local Hamilton-themed class, check out SoulCycle’s class schedule, here.

Speaking of items selling out in record times, these fitness fashion pieces are like the Birkin bags of activewear. Waitlists stressing you out? This five-minute meditation will stress-proof your mind.
