Fitness mogul Tracy Anderson is ditching her current downtown digs in New York City (and putting noise complaints from her neighbors behind her)—but don’t worry, if you’re used to getting your sweat on in Tribeca, she’s not moving far away, Anderson’s rep confirmed to Well+Good.
The mega-sized Tracy Anderson Method hub at 271 Church St. (which will include a café, though TBD whether she’ll have her new bars and shakes on hand, or if business partner Gwyneth will be swinging by for cooking demos) won’t be ready to open its doors until the summer or fall, so classes will be held at 27 Mercer St. in the meantime, starting May 2.
“Mercer Street will continue to offer clients with a full schedule of Tracy Anderson Method classes, retail, and more as we say goodbye to Hubert Street and eagerly await the opening of our new Tribeca home,” her rep tells us.
Plans for the 4,000-square-foot, three-level #TAmily home on Church Street include the aforementioned food and juice café, men’s and women’s locker rooms, and an extensive class schedule accessible between two floors of workout spaces.
The studio shift comes after a legal complaint by 24 Hubert Street over noise resulting from the high-intensity workouts. “All claims made by the building were resolved privately earlier this year,” the rep says, adding that Anderson and her studio team have done everything possible to accommodate the building’s recent requests, but found that it was interfering with the overall studio experience. “Moving a few months earlier than planned is a decision Tracy made and feels is best for her clients and staff.”
Anderson’s new Tribeca location adds to a burgeoning block for fitness fiends and celebrities alike. Considering Lyons Den Power Yoga is down the street, Exceed is around the corner, and star-studded neighbors include Mariah Carey and Taylor Swift, we don’t think noise will be a problem here.
Bonus: It’s just steps away from the newly opened Two Hands. #TAmily time followed by Instagrammy avo-toast, anyone?
