I think one of our greatest accomplishments as a society is the creation of sherpa. For starters, the faux-shearling is an animal-friendly alternative to traditional sheepskin, which automatically gives it a gold star in my book. It’s also cheaper than actual wool and is hella warm, which is why you’ll find so many popular outerwear brands using it to line things like jackets and snow boots.

A member of the pro-sherpa camp, I have the fabric in just about everything. Throw blankets, socks, coats, sweaters, even a baseball cap—sherpa totally slays. But the latest addition to my cuddly wardrobe is these Fluffy Sherpa Joggers (normally $60, now $22) from Aerie, which I got in December to binge Bravo TV in lounge in over the holiday and have been a mainstay in my wardrobe since then. I genuinely haven’t been able to take them off—they’re like teddy bears for your legs, and considering they’re currently 60 percent off right now, I’m definitely getting myself another pair.

At their core, these joggers are really just another pair of good-fitting sweatpants. They skip the traditional tapered, jogger-leg (which I personally hate) and go the boxy route instead, which immediately gives you a relaxed, ’90’s-inspired look. They’re slightly high-waisted with an elastic waistband and cuffs, and feature zip-pockets on either side, perfect for stashing your cell phone or Airpods when you’re chillin’.  But the pièce de résistance is that high-pile sherpa finish, which completely envelopes your bottom half in the coziest bear-hug, that—if you’re anything like me—you’ll struggle to peel off. Not because they’re restrictive like skinny jeans, but because they’re so freakin’ plush, you won’t want to get out of them, not even to wash them on laundry day.

I’m not the only one who’s lounging in luxury and tapping their inner teddy bear. Look at the reviews and you’ll find snuggly shoppers who are smitten with their Aerie purchases. “No one should go without these,” writes one customer. “Wish I could buy 10 of these. Unique, fun, teddy-bear-look[ing], [I] plan to [wear them] a lot on those below-freezing days ahead! Zip pockets are so nice. Washed once and [they] held up well using the directions on tag.”

Another customer said that, “fluffy is an understatement.” They wrote, “These have to be my favorite lounge pants that I own; they are incredibly soft and warm! The fit is perfect and adjustable on the waist. Love the zipper pockets, too! The only downside is that it’s not in various lengths (I’m short, so it’s a tad bit long), but a quick roll up of the hem does the trick.”

Okay, so I take my original statement back. Our biggest accomplishment as a society is not the inception of sherpa, but putting sherpa on joggers so you can walk around in unfettered comfort, and look like a star doing it. And remember what I said about sherpa being cheaper than genuine wool? You’d be hard-pressed to find real wool pants for $22. Snag a pair of Aerie’s Fluffy Sherpa Joggers while they’re still 60 percent off, I promise you won’t regret it.
