There are few things I look forward to more than my weekly date night with my best friend. Though we’re both adults with demanding schedules, we have a standing date every single week. In addition to enjoying a delicious (and beautifying, natch) dinner, directly followed up by healthy snacks, our quality time involves unwinding with some TLC in the form of a Netflix sesh. The ritual of watching onscreen BFFs for hours on end really reminds us why we’re grateful for each other in the first place. (All together: Awww.)

Here are some shows that will deliver the goods when it comes to squad bonding, no matter if you’re hunkering down in full hygge force with your ride-or-die soul sister or your whole coven of besties.

See the Netflix happiness- and friendship-promoting TV shows below.

1. Grace & Frankie

National treasures Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda teamed up for this Netflix show, in which they (eventually) become friends and roommates after their husbands come out of the closet. It’s as sex-positive, non-ageist, and empowering as you can get—plus watching it with your BFF is pretty much the perfect way to bask in the warm embrace of genuine friendship.

2. The IT Crowd

In some circles (mine), this British TV show has reached cult-favorite status. Focusing on Roy and Moss, two nerdy IT specialists and friends, this show will remind you why it’s nice to have a partner in crime.

3. Freaks and Geeks

As someone who did not enjoy high school, Freaks and Geeks has a special place in my heart. Watch this and remember that it’s okay to be a freak, a geek, or both.

4. Gilmore Girls

There are so many aspirational friendships between so many dope women in this TV show that it’s hard to even focus on one. There’s Rory and Lorelai (the definition of mother-daughter #goals), Lorelai and Sookie, Rory and Lane—the list goes on and on. The vibes are strong with this one.

5. Friends

This seminal ’90s show will inspire you and your BFF to get into some high jinks and tomfoolery (but don’t worry—nearly all conflicts resolve within a half hour). Bonus: This show gives hope that you can in fact find love with your closest friends.

To complete the experience, bring in some hygge with these warm loungewear picks and snuggle-ready blankets.
