Thinking of giving the gift of cannabis this year? Anna Duckworth, co-founder and editor-in-chief of Miss Grass, an elevated lifestyle shop and publication for women and cannabis, has the insider intel you need in order to make you a CBD-gifting MVP. But remember: When you’re playing Santa with cannabis, do so responsibly. “By gifting cannabis, you are in a position to change people’s minds, to introduce them to a plant that could alter their lives, and to begin a conversation around the history and the communities directly impacted by the War on Drugs,” she says. So along with your presents, “Write cards with information that educates and send follow-up emails to check in and share links to relevant reading.”

The holiday season is officially in full-swing: Shoppers are shopping, flockers are flocking, dispensaries (in legal states) are packed to the gills with cannabis enthusiasts stocking up on special holiday editions of their fave products. And since the 2018 holiday season is, arguably, the first that cannabis has officially hit its mainstream stride—the ingredient is so prevalent that even the skeptics are changing their tunes—you may be buzzing at the prospect of adding some extra green to your shopping list.

But buying cannabis for yourself and your friends is one thing; buying it for the rest of your list—colleagues, relatives, all those people to whom you should give gifts but with whom you don’t have that kind of relationship—is something else. It’s always better to air on the side of caution: Gift something that will impress, not offend.

If you live in a state where cannabis is not recreationally legal (yet)—there are only 10 that are, plus Washington, D.C.—you know that you’re much more limited in the products that you can access. But don’t despair, because in non-legal states, CBD (or cannabidiol) derived from hemp is admissible. And what’s more, hemp-derived CBD makes a great gift because it has the therapeutic benefits of cannabis without the high.

In my mad dash to find the perfect gift for everyone on my list, I went ahead and scoped some of my favorite CBD products for each personality archetype. (Because archetypes are fun!)

For Steezy Stella: Beboe’s Calming CBD Blend Vaporizer; $75

Beboe’s been called the “Hermes of Marijana,” and it’s easy to see why. Its aesthetic is pure luxury and the products are exactly the sort you’d expect to see only the shiniest people on Instagram holding. Until very recently, Beboe exclusively made products containing THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), cannabis’ psychoactive component. But last month, the brand launched its Calming CBD Blend Vaporizer. It’s an absolute must for anyone who lives fast and needs a quick chill fix between it all.

For Chill Chelsea: Life Elements CBD Bath Bomb; $14

We’ve all got that person in our lives for whom a bath is the ultimate indulgence (me). Give this Life Elements CBD Bath Bomb to someone you know appreciates a good soak, because it will truly elevate the experience. Make sure the recipient understands that this bomb is more like an effervescent masseuse swimming about the bathtub and that they should reserve it for a special occasion when they feel especially sore and run-down.

For Anxious Annie: Juna Drops; $75

If you’re gifting to someone who deals with anxiety, you have a big opportunity here. A regular dose of CBD has been shown to reduce stress and contribute to an overall sense of calm. If anxiety is really a problem for this person, take this moment to explain that if the benefits of CBD are truly to be reaped, you must commit to a regular daily dose. Juna Drops are low dose and a good starting point.

For Foodie Frida: Plant People Extra Virgin Olive Oil; $34

Save your foodie friend from the pains of infusing their own oils and butters. Plant People has done the excruciatingly heavy-lifting for us with its CBD-Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil. And since one of the founders of Plant People is an award-winning chef, you know you’re getting the absolute highest grade, sustainably grown, cold-pressed olive, too.

For Sporty Sofia: Apothecanna Extra Strength Spray; $38

This product is probably one of the most popular CBD products on the market and for good reason. It’s a fast-acting body spray that can help relieve pain. Made with organic essential oils and anti-inflammatory plant extracts like peppermint, juniper, arnica, and CBD, just a couple sprays cools and invigorates sore muscles.

For Artsy Arden: Awmoo Water Pipe: $200

Awmoo calls it a water pipe, but let’s call it what it is: a bong that doubles as a new sculpture for your mantle. Smoking from a bong is a treat because it’s a smoother, gentler experience. The trouble is that bongs have terrible raps and historically were the ugliest, grossest things ever to visit our college apartments. But Awmoo’s ceramic water pipes are one-of-a-kind and the antithesis of the bongs we hate.

For Tired Tina: Cannuka Calming Eye Balm; $38

For some of us, sadly, running ourselves ragged is not a once-in-a-while kind of thing. For that person, some serious TLC for the delicate skin around the eyes is about the nicest gift you could give. Cannuka’s eye balm is hydrating and protects delicate under-eye skin. Use it twice daily to treat fine lines, puffiness, and dark circles.

For Luxurious Lucy: Ildi Pekar CBD Mask; $125

This CBD Mask is the latest from celebrity facialist Ildi Pekar and it’s a true gem. But if you’re willing to splurge, this CBD mask because it is worth every dollar. Made with all natural, organic ingredients, it works on the skin’s barrier function to stimulate cell regeneration, reduce inflammation, nourish the skin, and leave you with a morning glow.

For Sexy Samantha: Foria Awaken; $48

This product is one of the OG cannabis topicals, and its popularity shows no signs of letting up. Infused lubricant is a little different than other infused topicals because the vagina absorbs it more easily than the rest of your skin does. That being said, Foria Awaken is CBD-only, so there’s no danger of getting high. It’s just a clean lube—which is hard to come by, if you’ve ever looked—and it’s as nice to eat as it is to rub down there.

For Intrepid Isla: Barbari Herbal Blends; $25

Okay, this one is for the person on your list who is a cannabis smoker. It’s a little something to elevate their ritual and quite frankly, to turn it on its head. One of the consistent gripes amongst smokers is the fact that smoking a whole joint would be nice, but unless you want to become one with the couch, is simply not realistic. It’s three puffs and we’re done. That was true until Barbari Herbal Blends came along and turned my world upside down. Now it’s all about rolling up an herbal spliff with a fraction of the cannabis in a regular joint and enjoying the whole damn thing. Pro-tip: You can also burn these as incense or sip as a tea.

Need a little more convincing before hopping on the CBD bandwagon? Here’s what happened when our beauty editor got a CBD facial and then swapped out her entire skin-care regimen for CBD-infused products.
