Every celebrity seems to have an alternative calling in life—Kristin Bell could've been a relationship therapist, RuPaul is basically a life coach, and Erykah Badu might actually be Wonder Woman.

Calling the singer-songwriter a renaissance woman would be an understatement considering that she's also an actress, a mother to three children, a doula, aaand a holistic healer (who grows her own herbs). With all of that wisdom and wellness guidance in her pocket, Badu can be found regularly dishing out life and health lessons via interviews and her very active Twitter (where she's been known to post video replies to her followers' tweets).

Whether you're just getting hip to her wealth of wisdom or looking to revisit some of her wellness greatest hits, here are four times the badass musician has dished out some real life lessons.

 1. Don't underestimate the importance of the mind-body connection

In an interview with Origin Magazine, the singer said, “I love the connection I have with myself every time I take a yoga class. It’s a very nice remembering, remembering the parts of me. You know what I mean?”

2. Being healthy isn't a competition, it's a lifestyle

“I do the same thing every day. I get up. Drink a lot of water. Have a wheatgrass shot. Drink some green juice. Eat as healthy as I can. I’m not trying to win an award for being the best vegetarian, just want to be healthy,” the artist shared with Origin.

3. Learn to tune into your body—it's a reflection of your mind

In a Twitter video, the wellness-savvy star shared her daily practice, saying, “I practice walking meditation, meaning the breath—honing my breath at any moment." And she adds that she's learned "when I feel it getting shallow, that means I’m anxious about something and then I consciously slow it down and do some deep breathing.”

4. Think of your body as a temple (or a high-end sports car)

Speaking to Complex, Badu preached, “If your body was a Lamborghini, you wouldn’t put no bullshit gas in it. It’s important that you put the right thing for the right kind of machine in your body. It needs the right kind of nutrients."
