The latest fitness studio to face noise complaints is…SLT?

In New York City, more and more neighbors are complaining about how loud gyms and workout studios are, and many fitness spots now have to work sound-proofing mechanisms into their designs. But while it’s easy to see how places like CrossFit gyms might rile building residents with heavy barbell dropping and thumping beats meant to inspire non-stop burpees, the latest studio to anger neighbors is more surprising.

According to the New York Post, mega-popular Megaformer studio SLT is facing eviction from its Hamptons space in Water Mill because of noise complaints. The Post says the landlord cited “screaming instructors” and describes the studio as having an “often loud combination of workout techniques.”

Umm…are we talking about a boot camp class taught by a military sergeant with the windows open? Or petite Amanda Freeman telling 10 people to move the spring-loaded Megaformer carriage back with their feet really slowly to the count of four? Maybe the landlord could just ask them to turn down the Rhianna a little and call it a day? —Lisa Elaine Held
