Two top Brooklyn Pilates studios are leading free or pay-what-you-wish core-focused classes through Labor Day.

Not to be outdone by all the free yoga classes offered in NYC parks this summer, Pilates is (finally) joining the recession-friendly trend.

Two Brooklyn Pilates studios are leading the ab-centric classes that will teach you to properly activate your core and challenge regular Pilates students. The free or pay-what-you-wish classes will go through Labor Day.

Pay-What-You-Wish Class on Mondays at Bodytonic in Park Slope

This popular studio is debuting a pay-what-you-wish 11am mat/springs class that’s particularly great for Park Slope moms and area freelancers who can get away to do their Hundreds during the day. The small studio fills up quickly with regulars and can accommodate just seven students at time, so get there at least 10 minutes early.

Free Mat Pilates Tuesdays on Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, Dumbo

The Fitness Guru, a Dumbo-based studio run by Lawson Harris and her team, is offering free mat Pilates on Tuesdays through the end of August (with the exception of July 20) on the Brooklyn waterfront. Classes are open to all skill levels. Bring your own mat, if you have one.

DATES: Tuesdays: July 6, July 13, July 27, August 3, August 10, August 17, August 24, August 31
