Free yoga Thursdays: A new NYC summer phenomena?

Bryant Park Lululemon class on Thursday WellandGoodNYC.com
The lawn at Bryant Park fills with Lululemon-clad yogis on Thursday evenings at 6:00. Yogis in cheap gear from Old Navy are also permitted.

We can barely keep up with all the free yoga classes offered in NYC this summer. But we try.

Here’s what’s on our radar (not counting the awesome 10K free Great Lawn event in Central Park on June 22!):

1. Free classes with Lululemon in Bryant Park

When: Tuesday 10am-11am (upper terrace, right behind the library; the only exception to the Thursday rule!) and Thursday 6pm-7pm (on the lawn)

Note: Top teachers take their turns teaching these. Be sure to bring a mat to Thursday class as Lulu’s loaners run out. No reservations needed. Just show up.

2. Free Summer Thursdays yoga classes at Pure Yoga West on 77th Street and Amsterdam

When: The 4th Thursday of every month (May 27th, June 24th, July 22nd and August 26th)

Choose from:

  • 6:00pm – Hot Yoga
  • 6:30pm – Basics
  • 7:15pm – Power Vinyasa

Note: Reserve your spot by emailing jenna.baker@pureyoga.com and indicating which class you would like to attend. BluePrint Cleanse is co-hosting these classes, and is giving yogis a chance to win a juice fast by attending.

Are we forgetting other free classes around the city? Share the scoop with other Well + Good readers in the Comments area, below!
