Healthy highlights from the Summer Wellness Guide: August 8—14

It’s Monday—time to scour the Summer Wellness Guide and make plans for a healthy, fun-filled week. We’ve made it easy for you with these boot camps, yoga classes, and outdoor workouts in the park and on the piers—many of them free!

Monday, August 8: Start your week off with a sunset run on Jones Beach as part of New York State Parks Summer Run series. Page 12.

Tuesday, August 9: As we saw Saturday on Governors Island, Lululemon knows how to throw a great outdoor yoga event. Hit Bryant Park’s Library Terrace at 10:00 a.m. and check out another Lulu hosted class. Page 4.

Wednesday, August 10:  Asphalt Green kicks off a 4-week bootcamp this week in Battery Park City in order to get downtowners pumped for the opening of their Hudson River campus. Sign-up required. Page 7.

Thursday, August 11: Forget Pandora. Stream our Summer Playlist, courtesy of Flywheel Sports, when you’re out for your dawn or dusk jog. Page 19.

Friday, August 12: Kick off your weekend at Brooklyn’s Flatbush Farms with affordable haute barnyard food from upstate farms—make sure to sit out back among the greenery. Page 13.

Saturday, August 13: Head to Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens for a Kripalu-style yoga class (9:30-10:30 a.m.) that integrates “yoga with waterfront nature and park.” Page 6.

Sunday, August 14: In the Hamptons for the weekend? Meet a group at Gubbins Running Ahead and tackle your long run early, before hitting the beach. Page 15.
