7 Companies To Shop That Are Working To Improve Women’s Lives This International Women’s Day

March 8 marks International Women’s Day, which comes smack in the middle of Women's History Month. The full month provides for the valuable opportunity to educate oneself on the struggles women have historically and also continue to face, and the day brings some urgency to actually act. One way to be supportive? By checking out which companies have International Women's Day initiatives that include meaningful charitable partnerships (versus a more hollow "20 percent off sale in honor of women!" type of deal.)

To be clear, leaning into retail therapy isn’t the first-and-foremost way to improve women's lives. Overhauling a vastly unequal society and chipping away at misogyny requires work that extends far beyond being mindful of your shopping habits. Nonetheless, being a conscious consumer is a safe and actionable way to show some support.

Below, find 7 brands with International Women’s Day initiatives to support this month and beyond.

1. LINNÉ

If you're looking to revamp your skin-care routine, consider LINNÉ, which has a line of botanical organic goodies that arrive in sustainable packaging. As a bonus, LINNÉ is donating a portion of March sales to organizations such as Girl EffectWomen1OneGirlstart, and Malala.

2. Saalt

Saalt aims to bring simplified menstrual care products to all, as it always allocates 2 percent of revenue to donating period products to those who need it most. But on March 8, the company is donating a full 100 percent of sales to Her International, an organization that empowers women and girls in Nepal with work opportunities and scholarships for girls in rural communities.

Papier is known for putting out the most gorgeous notebooks, and this one is next-level. Model, mental health activist, and founder of Gurls Talk Adwoa Aboah collaborated with the (all-women) design team for a special line of products, including this self-reflection notebook.

It features cute prompts like "What's the one song that always lights up you?," filled with inspirational quotes from the likes of Serena Williams and Sinéad Burke, and has a helpline section at the back with mental health resources in the United Kingdom and United States. All March proceeds from the collection are being donated to Gurls Talk.
