Lululemon preaches the Gospel of Sweat this September

At this summer’s Lululemon yoga gathering, you won’t need your mat—you’ll be sitting in a church pew.

The company just announced it will be hosting the “Gospel of Sweat” on Friday, September 7, at Riverside Church in Morningside Heights.

Unlike last year’s Escape to Yoga Island, which involved a full day of asanas, the city’s teachers—like Elena Brower, Schuyler Grant, SoulCycle’s Melanie Griffith, and 5Rhythms creator Gabrielle Roth—will be preaching from the pulpit.

“Like a Sunday morning sermon, yoga and spin studios, gyms and fitness centers are helping people connect with themselves and their communities,” reads an information sheet on the event.

Lululemon says the goal is to structure the evening like a TED talk “with live streaming engagement available throughout the city.”

Should we wear Luon or our Sunday best?

Gospel of Sweat, Friday, September 7, 6:00—9:00 p.m., Riverside Church, 490 Riverside Drive (at 121st Street), Free with RSVP to [email protected] For more info, visit the event Facebook page.
