In the Middle of an Intense Eclipse Season, Here’s How To Embrace Fresh-Start Energy

In the aftermath of last week's lunar eclipse in Gemini, and with the anticipation of next week's total solar eclipse in Sagittarius, the week ahead brings with it a potent opportunity to work with the moon's waning cycle. Now's the time to release what you no longer need and get ready for a fresh start. A lunar eclipse closes out a 19-year cycle, and a solar eclipse opens the gateway to a new beginning and a fresh start. The solar and lunar eclipse effects include the seasons being a powerful time to expedite change.

Eclipses happen when new and full moons align at the intersection of the Earth's orbit around the sun and the moon's orbit around the Earth. Because of this alignment, eclipses cast shadows; a lunar eclipse happens when the Earth's shadow covers the moon, and a solar eclipse happens when the moon's shadow covers the sun. They often result in an expedition of events that reveal previously undetected and/or not palpable misalignments.

The shadows caused by the Earth's alignment with, moon, sun, and the moon's nodes can feel intense. As an astrologer, I've observed that our past, present, and future align in a way that allows us to become more conscious of ourselves, our emotions, and our needs during eclipse season. We become aware of what we must shed as we step out into the new beginning and fresh start ahead.

This week, as the moon wanes, it's a powerful time to lean into the impact of the eclipses and consciously retire old ways of being that no longer serve you in preparation for the next chapter to start.

This week, as the moon wanes, it's a powerful time to lean into the impact of the eclipses and consciously retire old ways of being that no longer serve you in preparation for the next chapter to start. Consider cleaning out closets, letting go of unnecessary remnants from your past, and creating space in your life. Bring things to a close where you can, and be proactive.

The waning quarter moon happens on Monday, December 7th, at 7:36 p.m. in Virgo at 16°22', offering an opportunity to consciously consider what you can shed and what you need to forgive to move forward effectively. This is a powerful time for a waning moon ritual, which is a ceremony to honor what's manifested and make space for where you are heading next.

On Wednesday, November 9th, Neptune, who recently stationed direct, squares the sun. This alignment between the planet of illusion and dreams in a square to the sun, asks you to honor your intuition and avoid ambiguity. Murky boundaries lead to unclear results. To stay out of the swamp this week, finding clarity within helps immensely.

Then, on the 10th, Pluto has yet another square to Eris, the dwarf planet of discord. This intense mashup likely brings things up that otherwise, even with the eclipses, could stay hidden in the shadows. As the moon wanes dark, it's a potent and powerful time to continue the process of shedding that which you no longer need and taking exceptional care of yourself—mind, body, and soul—to the extent that you can rest.

On the 11th, Mars in Aries perfects its fire trine to the sun, amplifying energy. However, with the moon in Scorpio (Mars and Pluto rule Scorpio), emotions may feel intense. Practice being with what is, and allow yourself to move through it by offering yourself precisely what you need.

As we move through the weekend and closer to the upcoming solar eclipse, review where you've been. What lessons has 2020 offered you? How about the last 19 years? Get clear on what you are integrating, and begin choosing what you will commit to next. Spend time crafting your vision for the year ahead, and get clear on your intentions to set with the upcoming solar eclipse. It's essentially a super-intense new moon, and you don't want to miss using it to your advantage.
