Thanks To a Supportive Trine Between 2 Important Planets, You Can Expect an Energetic Reset This Week

The year 2021 opened up at the same low point where 2020 ended, and because of this, many of us—myself included—didn't kick into 2021 with the typical high-energy gusto that marks a New Year. Rather than reset health habits or set intentionally lofty goals for ourselves, many of us merely observed the change of year on the calendar. After all, conjuring motivation and hope amid a wretched pandemic and extreme political tumult is no small task. But now, in this last week of February, the universe brings us an astrologically sanctioned opportunity to get back into our bodies and focus on our health and well-being.

The week ahead offers the potential for soothing and nurturing. Mercury stationed direct on Saturday, February 20, offering the opportunity to straighten any missteps from weeks prior. Mars is in the late degrees of Taurus, fixed-Earth, making a supportive trine to Pluto, who rules the rebirth process. This aspect provides the opportunity to activate new trajectories and potentials.

Mars trine Pluto encourages fitness, movement, and the recalibration of our body's natural energy. But more than fitness, it's a time to allow our body to release the sadness it's holding onto.

Mars trine Pluto encourages fitness, movement, and the recalibration of our body's natural energy—something we can all use. But more than fitness, it's a time to (potentially) allow our body to release the sadness it's holding onto after nearly a year of living amid the pandemic.

The body being sad can present as a peculiar fatigue that doesn't respond to the apparent fixes. Yet, even without concrete certainty of what life holds in the near or distant future, life and healing are cyclical. Sinister perplexities naturally give way to serendipitous solutions; what can feel dark and gloomy (hello, winter and seasonal affective disorder) eventually blossoms into rebirth with spring. Forcing optimism in times of sadness can't always work, though, so if you feel listless, know that being where you are and feeling what you are feeling, shamelessly, is sometimes the wisest way to be. However, if you are feeling reinvigoration's call, the next few days certainly offer support to up the ante on the healthy habits, guiding you to give your body the gentle love it craves.

Beyond motivating Mars trine Pluto, an aspect that perfects on Wednesday at 8:51 p.m. (and is much kinder than the Mars square Pluto aspect that ended 2020) and no planets traveling retrograde, the moon waxes all week, too. A waxing moon often amplifies energy. The moon's phases mean that we are exposed to varying light sources in the sky, from sources other than the sun alone. And this additional source of light can stimulate us. Hormonally, the endocrine system is wired to respond to natural light, so the sun's additional light being reflected back to us from the moon may amp up our hormonal response to create a buzz that we don't feel in the moon's dark phases.

This is important because on Thursday, Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and relationships, moves into Pisces, a sign she loves and where she'll stay until March 21st, and this—combined with Mars's angle to Pluto and the waxing gibbous moon—offers additional support to feel through our body's sadness. Venus in Pisces encourages heart-based connection with others as well as a gentle and subtle release of the body’s deepest levels—the nooks and crannies of our body where we hold trauma, grief, and pain.

While the full moon in Virgo, which happens at 8° in the sign most closely related to health, might not be the best for sleep, it boasts some additional aspects that call us back to our bodies, our healing, and a release of all of the sadness we've endured. It's a potent moon for gentle self-care and healing. (The full moon perfects at 3:17 a.m. on Saturday the 27th, so Friday night, she’ll rise as the sun sets, amplifying evening light and the potential for the full moon buzz that might just have you up later than you desire.)

Set aside sometime on Friday to stretch and move your body as she needs. A simple foam-roller exercise or self-body massage, followed with a bath will support you to tap into the potential healing this full moon offers. It's a fabulous full moon for releasing, too, as the moon trines Uranus, the planet that corresponds with a breakthrough, while the sun sextiles this archetype of liberation. At the same time Jupiter, the planet of good luck and good fortune, trines the north node of fate and destiny. Crafting a meaningful ritual for yourself to work at the intersection of body, mind, and soul, will help you tap into the refreshing energy this week brings.

Even though we are well into 2021, it's not too late to put two feet into this New Year right now and embrace it for all that it offers. It still packs the potential to bring exactly what we need, and the full moon this week, along with transits like Mars trine Pluto, provides us with the invitation to meet it—and life—halfway.
