Forget haute couture gowns and sky-high, red-soled stilettos. The latest it-accessory just may be the sheet mask. (Think it’s not high-fashion? It comes in gold!)
At last night’s “prom for the fashion world”—the annual Met Gala—all eyes were on the red carpet as celebrities and fashion heavy hitters strutted down the red carpet and into New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for the annual ball. But before the glitterati made it to the Met, they prepped.
So instead of, “Who are you wearing?” we’re asking, “What did you do before you slipped into your gown?”
And wellness-savvy celebs did not disappoint—here all the healthy hacks they included in their pre-party rituals.
There were last-minute workouts…
Super-fit Karlie Kloss spent her Met Gala morning getting sweaty at The Dogpound in Soho—one of the supermodel’s workout hot spots—and fellow supermodel Miranda Kerr multitasked by squeezing in a Ballet Beautiful workout while sporting a hydrating mask from her skin-care line, Kora Organics.
…and models getting super-chill
After her final fitting at Ralph Lauren, Lily Aldridge hit up KryoLife in Midtown for a pre-gala cryotherapy session. (The speedy deep-freeze procedure is said to increase metabolism and reduce inflammation.)
And there were so many sheet-mask selfies
You could argue that they were one of the hottest Met trends of the year. Kate Hudson and designer Stella McCartney dazzled in full-face gold, while Kendall Jenner opted for under-eye touch-ups.
Madge’s mask of choice? She posted this bare-faced selfie after a quick Skin Chrome Clay Mask, from her MDNA skin-care line.
So if you watched the red carpet coverage from the comfort of your own couch—while sporting a sheet mask of your own—consider yourself one step closer to red carpet royalty.
If you really want to feel like a star, get in the tub for a hot soak-face mask combo—here are some suggestions. After all, taking a bath can be just as good for you as working out (yes, really).
