My Favorite Green Juice Recipe: Amanda Chantal Bacon

There’s something special about Amanda Chantal Bacon. She’s one part juice whisperer, one part holistic genius—and runs one of the coolest, out-of-this-world juice bars on the planet.

Having served as a chef under Suzanne Goin (whose mentor was Alice Waters), Bacon sipped DIY juices to keep her energy up during long stints in the kitchen. So, when in 2012 she opened Moon Juice, in Venice, California (and a larger second location this past summer in Silver Lake), her culinary background served her well, and she’s now known for making juice blends with flavor profiles that wow foodies and healing benefits that woo healthy-earthy types. (Think: Fennel, Frond & Herb, with cucumber, basil and green apple, and Golden Milk, an almond milk with turmeric juice, cardamom, cinnamon, and wild honey.)

Her Goodness Greens leans toward the practical and potent—”It’s a medicinal grade juice,” says Bacon, whose own healing journey got her smart on what plants could do. “This juice is a super potent green; it’s detoxifying, alkalizing, healing, and mood lifting,” says the native New Yorker. So you might want to keep this recipe on hand through January to help fight off winter colds and the winter blues. —Melisse Gelula

Goodness Greens

1/2 bunch of kale
1/2 bunch of dandelion greens
Packed fistful of spinach
1/2 bunch of parsley
6 stalks of celery

Alternate the celery stalks with the greens and herbs as you press them through the juicer. Stir and enjoy!
