My Favorite Green Juice Recipe: Haley Boyd

Named after the Paris arrondissement, Marais USA is a New York City-based shoe company that marries French sophistication with functionality—and seriously reasonable price point—that appeals to the Big Apple set. Everyone from Steven Alan to Urban Outfitters now carries the line’s cute flats, wedges, sandals, and non-ankle-breaking heels.

At the company’s helm is 29-year-old owner and designer Haley Boyd, who founded her company in 2009 straight out of Parsons. And she’s into fashion and wellness in equal measure.

“I actually think being healthy is pretty trendy, at least in the United States,” Boyd says. “People like Hannah Bronfman are making it cool to work out and have an awesome figure that isn’t stick thin.”

Boyd first discovered the power of healthy eating when an acupuncturist-nutritionist prescribed a three month cleanse (no processed food, red meat, dairy, alcohol, refined sugar, or wheat) five years ago to help with the persistent health issues she was having. She credits it with making her feel “100 percent better.”

Nowadays, the chic Bushwick, Brooklyn, resident who loves green juices and smoothies is all about moderation. “If I go to Paris, I’m not going to totally avoid butter,” Boyd admits. Sounds like the perfect balance of practicality and indulgence—not unlike her footwear.
