My Favorite Green Juice Recipe: Heather Tierney

The founder of Butcher’s Daughter, and hotspots Apotheke and Pulqueria, shares her Shades of Green smoothie. No mixology background needed.

Heather Tierney Butcher's DaughterAs a former food critic and the founder of hot new cafe, The Butcher’s Daughter in Nolita, Heather Tierney had the genius to roll out culinary-inspired juice blends on her vegetarian-friendly menu.

Her fresh-squeezed juices borrow from cocktail mixology (thank her other hotspots Apotheke and Pulqueria for that) and often include herbal infusions. They pair just as well alongside your beet tartare and nicoise salad as the boozier counterparts.

Now Tierney is letting us whip up a touch of The Butcher’s Daughter at home with her Shades of Green smoothie, a rendition of the restaurant’s Solar Power Smoothie that calls for fresh cilantro and zingy lime—and very little mixology know-how. —Amy Eley
