My Favorite Green Juice Recipe: Izzy Grinspan

Racked's editorial director shares the creative green juice recipe (peppers, carrots, and lime!) that kept her healthy through her pregnancy.

Izzy Greenspan While covering all-things fashion and shopping, Racked editorial director Izzy Grinspan tries to generally “eat in a way that Michael Pollan would approve of.”

But the Carrol Gardens resident—who is due to deliver her first child any second now—was inspired to hop on the green juice bandwagon by her pregnancy.

“Your diet becomes a much bigger deal to you,” she explains. “I can feel it more intensely when I’m not eating healthy, so it’s easier to make eating healthy a priority.”

Grinspan started throwing greens into the Vitamix to up her iron levels, and now, she sips a juice every morning.

Here’s her simple-and-delicious go-to recipe. —Lisa Elaine Held

The Greenspan

1/2 cup water
1 cup green grapes
An entire small lime, peeled
1/2 yellow pepper, seeded
1/2 medium apple, halved
1 carrot, halved
1 cup fresh spinach, washed
1 cup ice cubes

Place in powerful blender like a Vitamix (some of them can’t handle the lime) and blend for one minute.
