My Favorite Green Juice Recipe: Julieanna Hever


People know the plant-based-diet-promoting nutritionist, Julieanna Hever, M.S., R.D., C.P.T., for her work on “Forks Over Knives,” and with Dr. T. Colin Campbell, the author of The China Study.

She also penned a couple of smart Complete Idiot’s Guides to food and cooking.

Recently the over-achiever became the host of the brand new Veria talk show series, What Would Julieanna Do?

Our first question for her? What’s your favorite green juice recipe?

She gave us her cleverly named It’s Easy Being Green smoothie from The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition. With 20 grams of fiber and 11 grams of protein, it packs a healthy punch and can be substituted for breakfast or lunch to take on the go.

It’s Easy Being Green Smoothie

4 cups green leafy vegetables (a combination of any: spinach, dandelion greens, collard greens, kale, etc.)
2 tbsp hempseeds, flax seeds, or both
1 cup frozen blueberries
1/4 cup frozen cherries
1/4 cup frozen raspberries
1/4 cup frozen pineapple
1/4 cup frozen mango
1 frozen banana
2 cups unsweetened almond milk, coconut water, or cooled green tea

Blend on high and enjoy icy cold!
