My Five Beauty Obsessions: Blake Brody

Blake Brody beautyThis yogi-vegetarian New Yorker is the woman behind Blake Brody In-Studio Footwear—chic, eco-conscious slip-ons that are meant to be worn during barre, yoga, and Pilates, not on city sidewalks.

Brody recently created a limited-edition Physique 57 pair with the fashionista-fave workout brand.

And Brody’s not just fashionable on her feet. “I think that good skin comes from the inside, so I try to drink water as often as possible to stay hydrated and eat foods with fatty acid, like avocados.”

Here’s what she keeps in her beauty bag:

1. SpaRitual Sacred Ground($10)
I love Spa Ritual nail polish! The vegan line is formaldehyde free, and the polish is packaged in recycled materials that are also recyclable. I tend to wear grey and silver on my nails this time of year so right now my favorite color is Sacred Ground.

2. Trish McEvoy High Volume Mascara($30)
I have always been obsessed with eye makeup—specifically mascara! And I only use Trish McEvoy High Volume Mascara in Black. It has a very dramatic effect and makes my lashes look thick, long, and lush. I like when I remove it with water, it comes off in clumps that look like fake lashes, instead of smudging all over.

3. Cle De Peau Refining Fluid Foundation SPF 24 ($109)
For my skin, I use Cle de Peu Refining Fluid Foundation, which feels very light and leaves a dewy finish. It also contains SPF 24; I am very conscious to use sunscreen every day

4. La Roche-Posay Anthelios 45 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid for Face with SPF 45 ($29.50)
When I’m not wearing foundation and my moisturizer doesn’t contain sunscreen, I love to use La Roche-Posay Anthelios.

5. Clean Well All-Natural Hand Sanitizer ($9 for pack of 3)
While it’s not technically a beauty obsession, I use this constantly. I’m not a germaphobe (do people who are not germaphobes say that?), but between studio classes, taking the subway/taxis, pressing elevator buttons, and everything else I touch throughout the day in the city, I always feel that I need to wash my hands. Unlike other hand sanitizers, this spray is alcohol free, which doesn’t dry out my skin, so I can use it as often as I’d like!
