Natural Beauty Faves: What We’re Loving Right Now (May 2013)

We test tons of products every month that we become obsessed with. Here’s what’s what we’re loving right now.

SoapwallaNatural and organic beauty lines are booming, and while we love to cover the beauty obsessions of others, we test tons of products every month that we become obsessed with, too. Here’s what’s what we’re loving right now.

BITE Beauty Lip Layers ($12) These tiny-enough-for-your-clutch lipsticks are the beauty equivalent of reversible pants—they come with two colors in one. They’re made with organic shea butter and resveratrol, so they nourish your lips instead of drying them out (for real) and last for at least a couple of hours. BITE says you can wear the two colors ombre-style, but I haven’t braved that effect yet.

Bite BeautyPrada Lab Velvet Skin Almond Facial Scrub ($29.99) This indie brand’s formulations are as natural and simple as they come, and the ingredient list on this product looks more like a recipe for cookies. It smells (and tastes—whoops!) like almond butter and offers thorough—yet not rough—exfoliation.

Soapwalla Essential Facial Toning Mist in Rose Geranium and Bergamot ($38) I’ve become a huge fan of face mists after I wash up and before I apply serum or moisturizer. My skin just seems to drink them in better. This brand-new one from Soapwalla has become a regimen necessity, and will be great to cool down when summer arrives.

In FioreIn Fiore Soleil Fleur ($120) This apothecary line is known for its high-quality, artisanal oil blends, but I’m also into its one simple, amazing moisturizer, which is perfect for my summer combo skin.

Red Flower Isla das Rocas Revitalizing Sea Salt Body Scrub in Ocean ($36) I’m a huge fan of exfoliation on my face, but if it weren’t for this scrub, which I sometimes mix with Red Flower body wash, I’d forget to do it from the neck down. It makes legs more supple and arms less bumpy.

Yes to GrapefruitYes to Grapefruit Brightening Facial Towelettes ($5.99) The slightly textured towelette gets makeup off before a workout and the sweat off after one. Plus it imparts a few gentle exfoliants that brighten skin, thereby supporting a few other skin-care objectives of mine, too.

Jane Iredale Longest Lash Thickening & Lengthening Mascara ($33) It goes on slick and feels nourishing (must be the seaweed extracts), and it comes in a squeezable tube, which means I can coax the mascara toward the brush instead of jamming it into the tube, attempting to scrape the edges. It doesn’t smudge much, but it can flake a bit. —Melisse Gelula and Lisa Elaine Held
