Train like Katniss?

New York Sports Club's new—and free—high-intensity interval training class is inspired by Katniss Everdeen's survival skills. (Squirrel-hunting not included.)

If Katniss Everdeen is even just a little bit of a fitness icon for you, you might want to check out a new high-intensity interval class inspired by the Catching Fire protagonist’s athletic skills and survival strategies. (Squirrel-hunting not included.)

(And if you want to dress like her, you should check out fitness fashion designer Lucas Hugh, who designed the rad costumes/workout pieces.)

The 45-minute workout called “Train Like a Tribute” is available at New York Sports Club locations in the northeast. But in New York, at the 61 West 62nd Street location, the green-turfed UXF Zone has been transformed into a jungle arena.

There you’ll “navigate your way around a clock of 12 fitness challenges—from dodging attack monkeys, to scaling Heavensbee Hills, to wielding the Peacekeeper battle ropes—training like an ultimate athlete in this survival of the fittest!”

We expect that in this fitness version of the Hunger Games, however, your Tribute counterparts will fare much better than Katniss’s. —Melisse Gelula

“Train Like a Tribute” launches this week at the 62nd Street location in New York, Boston, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia Sports Clubs. The class is currently free of charge (into December 2013). For more information, visit www.mysportsclubs.com
