New York’s healthiest retreat destination this November?

This month, lots of New Yorkers will be headed out East to Gurney's Montauk Resort—they'll just be toting yoga mats instead of beach blankets.

It may be well past Labor Day, but this month, lots of New Yorkers will be headed out East to Gurney’s Montauk Resort—they’ll just be toting yoga mats instead of beach blankets.

That’s because the sprawling oceanfront property is hosting back-to-back wellness weekends. From November 7 to 9, Exhale will bring top instructor Nicole Uribarri for three days of Core Fusion and Flow Yoga classes, and from November 14 to 16, Yoga for Bad People is hosting a Fall Juice Cleanse Retreat that includes yoga classes with Yoga Vida’s Heather Lilleston and a Juice Press detox.

It’s all part of the massive makeover the Montauk institution has been undergoing, which includes repositioning itself as a wellness destination. Over the summer, Row House held classes on the deck overlooking the ocean and Suja juices were served to those lounging on the beach daybeds.

The resort’s Seawater Spa is also getting completely redone for summer 2015. But don’t worry, it’s still open—in case you need to make use of the Finnish Rock Sauna for sore muscles. —Lisa Elaine Held
