We recap everything earth-shattering that happened in health and wellness this week: June 29–July 11, 2013. (We skipped last week for the holiday, so this week’s edition is extra juicy!)
CrossFit movers and shakers: A new Upper East Side Box, CrossFit Concrete Jungle, opened on July 11, and CrossFit Queens recently moved to a new, more central location on 31st Street in Astoria. On the Upper West Side, CrossFit NYC debuted a second location on Columbus Ave., which is in “soft opening” mode until a full opening set for Labor Day.
A new hot yoga studio, Y7, opens in Williamsburg this Saturday, July 13. The studio offers a new concept: Heated vinyasa in a dark room, with loud beats. (More on that later.)
Pure Yoga announced it will be offering a la carte classes for non-members this summer. Classes are $30 and can be purchased at the front desk at either studio location.

FOOD AND JUICE

A new mobile juice and smoothie bar, Juice Baby, has parked near Hamptons fitness hotspots like SoulCycle and Physique 57, and allows class-goers to place orders before they start cycling and toning, so their juice is waiting for them once they’re sweaty.
Popular East Village cafe The Bean launched a fresh juice menu. The cafe, which has three locations, is known for its coffee and vegan treats.
The Upper West Side gourmet grocery Gastronomie 491 is now offering Victory Garden’s goat-milk soft serve ice cream, from the popular downtown eatery.
Luxury natural-beauty brand Tata Harper is debuting in Sephora stores today and has launched a new line of serums that start at $184.
It might have started out in the kitchen cupboard, but coconut oil has become a coveted cosmetic and a summer multi-tasking staple in the medicine cabinet.
The Battery Conservancy is hosting a fundraiser at Battery Urban Farm on Wednesday, July 24 that will feature yoga with Joulebody founder Yvette Rose, healthy food and juices that use on-site produce, and chair massages from The Setai Spa.
Dance cardio is rocking the Hamptons this month: 305 Fitness and KGBody are teaming up for a fun workout event in Montauk on July 13, while Physique 57 is hosting Lindi Duesenberg’s DMF class on July 27.
As part of its 360 Wellness series, Serene is hosting a “Detox Your Life” talk with yoga luminary Elena Brower at No. 8 in the Meatpacking, on Thursday, July 18.
