HEALTHY CELEBS

Jay-Z and Beyonce embarked on a 22-day vegan challenge together. Hova announced the decision on Twitter and asked for restaurant suggestions from “professional vegans.”

Business partners Tracy Anderson and Gwyneth Paltrow released a trailer for an upcoming web series they’ll host featuring women telling inspirational stories about health and wellness transformations.

And not one to put up her Isabel Marant wedges and rest, Tracy Anderson also announced she’ll launch a juice line in January 2014. Anderson, who has spoken out against juice cleansing often in the past, says her line will not be for cleansing, and the drinks will include protein powder.

FOOD NEWS

Better-burger lunch chain Energy Kitchen closed all of its New York City locations, surprising fans. Locations in Virginia and Montvale, N.J., will remain open.

While serious-salad joint Sweetgreen announced a $22 million investment from Steve Case’s Revolution Growth, which will go towards more locations across the country.

Tom Colicchio’s fast-casual ‘Wichcraft chainlet became the first shop to feature Harmless Harvest raw coconut water dispensers that can hold 20 liters of the product. It just debuted at the Chelsea Piers location, and will expand to others in the near future.

NEW YORK FITNESS SCENE

A small Pilates studio, Balanced Pilates opened in West Harlem, on 123rd Street, just a couple of weeks after the neighborhood got a brand-new yoga studio.

Flywheel opened the doors to its shiny new Tribeca studio, with free classes continuing through this weekend and the regular class schedule starting on Monday, December 9.

Brooklyn Bodyburn announced on Instagram that it would soon stock exclusive “post workout fuel” from its neighborhood juice bar, Tiny Empire.

Black Dog Yoga announced a formal relationship with YogaVibes, known for its online yoga classes, that are filmed at the Sherman Oaks studio.

The Wildfox warehouse sale kicked off at the Cooper Design Space today and runs through tomorrow. After fighting the throngs for one of the “Take Me on Vacation” sweatshirts, you’ll really need one.

Several dozen cool cult brands, from beauty fave Earth Tu Face and clutch-goddess Claire Vivier to culinary-cold-press whiz Moon Juice, are coming together for the Echo Park Craft Fair, on December 14 and 15 in Silver Lake at Mack Sennett Studios.

NEW YORK CITY HAPPENINGS

Empire Tri Club is hosting its 4th annual Giro de Santa this Sunday, December 8, a 50-mile charity bike ride around New York City where riders dress like Santas.

Pure Yoga is offering Figure 4 Fierce this Saturday, December 8 and December 14. The workshop, open non-members, will combine the studio’s popular barre method with cardio dance intervals

Exceed Physical Culture is hosting beloved instructor Erin Jacques, displaced after SLT Yoga closed, on Saturday, December 14. Jacques will teach a workshop called Strength in Stillness, a play on her signature sweaty, music-driven yoga method.

On Monday, December 9, Tribeca’s Real Pilates is hosting a day-long celebration honoring the life of Joseph Pilates with free classes, giveaways, and more.
