It’s prime running season right now, and for the more than 35 million people who proudly call themselves runners, this is the time of year we’ve all been waiting for. Crisp fall temps mean races are popping up all over–5K’s, 10K’s, half-marathons and marathons.

But along with the onslaught of races comes a new crop of runners each year. That’s great news, but it can also be a recipe for disaster if a rookie runner attempts too much too soon or doesn’t know what veteran runners have often learned the hard way: race-day mistakes.
