Recipe: Piña Colada Smoothie

If you like piña coladas (sorry, we couldn’t resist!), then you’ll love this month’s creamy-yet-cooling smoothie, which will make you feel like you’re in tropical, healthy paradise, hangover not included.

And while it may taste like an indulgence, it’s actually a potent, healing blend, with three inflammation-busting powerhouse ingredients—turmeric, ginger, and pineapple.  (Have you heard? Inflammation is the cause of basically every healthy problem you can think of?)

Plus, the coconut water adds hydrating electrolytes you’ll need on a hot summer day, and hemp seeds provide plant-based protein to make it complete.

Add a squeeze of lime for extra tang and top with creamy coconut cream and roasted coconut flakes for supreme good-for-you decadence. —Jennifer Kass

Piña Colada Smoothie 

Blend and enjoy!

1 cup coconut water
1 tsp turmeric
1 inch fresh ginger
1 cup frozen pineapple
1 tbsp hemp seeds
A squeeze of lime

Topping
Whole fat coconut milk
1 tbsp maple syrup

Blend and cool in the refrigerator until firm. Add roasted coconut flakes on top.
