Sadie Lincoln teaches barre3 workout to Well+Good readers [video]

Portland-based barre3 is a West Coast fitness phenomenon. But this morning, New Yorkers got to try this intriguing hybrid class with its famous founder Sadie Lincoln right here in New York City. (Lincoln was in town for the ECA fitness convention.)

The packed class took place at Lululemon’s Lincoln Square location before the store opened. While a few curious tourists pressed their faces to the windows, the 40-some Well+Good readers who attended the workout (we had a wait list of more than 100!) grooved their way through barre3’s work-till-you-quake combo of yoga, Pilates, and ballet barre work.

Lincoln guided the group on how to use her signature barre3 ball, which is used for strength, support, and stability challenges. Then she stuck around after class to mingle with readers, and answer questions, including the very popular: “When will barre3 come to NYC?”

No word yet on when barre3 will find a permanent home here. But based on the massive interest in today’s event and the reception Lincoln got today, barre3 will get a warm welcome when the time comes. —Slideshow by Catherine Pearson
