SLT announces its Midtown studio is moving, and the end of SLT Yoga

Amanda Freeman’s Megaformer hotspot SLT announced today that its Midtown studio will be moving to a new space a few blocks away. And with the announcement came some shocking news: its beloved yoga program SLT Yoga, created by the popular fitness instructor Erin Jacques, will end (in late October) with the move.

SLT Yoga, known for its sweaty, fast, and music-driven flow, became a favorite of New York City yogis soon after its launch in May of 2012. Jacques joined Freeman as a co-founder and yoga director of SLT after leaving her national yoga director post at Exhale.

SLT has been in expansion mode as of late, with new Megaformer studios opening any moment in Rye Brook, Westchester, and Short Hills, New Jersey. The new Midtown space will be home to more Megaformers, a room for privates, and two private bathrooms (which the current space does not have).

What it won’t have is an open room for yoga mats or Shred’s many fitness props with Jacques—or space for Katherine Greiner’s fun, fitness-influenced KG Body dance cardio classes. (Hopefully Greiner will bring her boom box to another studio space soon.)

No word yet on Jacques’ next move, but no doubt a slew of fans will be gripping their yoga mats in suspense. We certainly wouldn’t mind if she showed up on the Megaformer class schedule.—Lisa Elaine Held
