The Next Few Months Bring the Most Fortuitous Astrological Transits We’ve Seen Since 2019

Our mindset will matter in the days ahead—and thanks to Jupiter's auspicious alignment with Mercury on Sunday, February 14, our thoughts and intended outcomes are primed to align. So, get grounded and check-in with yourself. Notice where you are and aren't aligned with a growth mindset. A growth mindset refers to the belief that we can improve ourselves, outcomes, and talents with work and determination. A growth mindset also bolsters our resilience, and we will need all of the resilience we can muster in the days ahead before the spring 2021 astrology forecast offers a welcome sense of ease.

On Wednesday, Saturn, the planet of discipline, perfects his square to Uranus, who rules awakening (albeit via sudden shocks). A square is a disharmonious angle that asks us to reconcile differences. This is the first of three squares between these two planets of 2021, with the other two happening in June and December. While this square will be in orb all year, sometimes the first square in a series of them can feel the most intense. So, prepare yourself accordingly.

To break it down further, Saturn, who now travels in Aquarius, asks us to apply ourselves (with a growth mindset) to the changes we wish to make in our world. Saturn is one of Aquarius's ruling planets, so he's well-positioned in this sign to help us animate our commitment to collective healing. Uranus in Taurus is, meanwhile, not a natural placement. Uranus shakes up the status quo, while Taurus tends toward the preservation of the established ways of doing things. This juxtaposition can feel jarring in effect. So as Saturn reaches 7° of Aquarius , his square to Uranus at 7° of Taurus is in full force, and we'll feel it all week. (Actually, to some degree we’ll feel this all year, though this is one of its most potent times.)

I have affectionally termed this square as "the epic battle between no longer and not yet." As the world meanders through all of the looming liminality of transitions, our old pre-COVID-19 lives feel like a distant past while our new realities remain an emergent "not yet." As Saturn brushes up against Uranus, the distance between where we are and where we want to be will feel spotlighted, which is why I suggest grounding yourself in a mindset that fortifies your resilience at the beginning of the week. Dropping into a growth mindset will help you to stay confident on your path to change, despite looming and inevitable obstacles.

Once Mercury stations direct on Saturday, we won't have any retrograde planets until late April, which means that we can finally make progress on our goals.

The week ahead is certainly not all gloom and doom. On Thursday, the sun moves out of Aquarius and into Pisces. The sun's shift from fixed air (Aquarius) into mutable water (Pisces) is potentially very medicinal. So far this year, most of the planets have traveled in the Earth and air signs, and other than the moon—which changes signs every 2.5 days and Neptune in Pisces—we haven't had another major planet in water since Venus left Scorpio on December 15, 2020.

Water represents fluidity and feelings, and when balanced, water signs offer a calming sense of contentment. With the sun beginning its annual sojourn in the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces, we are invited to integrate our emotions and open up to the flow. Thankfully, we'll have a better opportunity to enter into healing flow states upon Mercury's stationing direct, which happens on Saturday, February 20. While Mercury will stay in his post-retrograde shadow until March 12th, he ends his actual retrograde on Saturday.

Once Mercury stations direct, we won't have any retrograde planets again until April 28th, when Pluto stations retrograde. Let me repeat—there won’t be any retrograde planets again until late April, which means that the spring of 2021 astrology forecast includes over two months when we can finally make progress on our goals. And even still, Pluto’s retrograde motion, while significant, is minor in the scheme of things, meaning cosmic skies look relatively clear until late May, when we enter eclipse season again, and Jupiter stations retrograde. By that time, though, Jupiter will have moved into Pisces; a transit that holds hope. Jupiter will make a great aspect to Venus early in June and to the sun at the time of the summer solstice. So even with eclipses, the second Uranus-Saturn square, and more planets turning retrograde come June, there's an indication that we can expect profound healing, too.

To be clear, the fortuitous cosmic forecast doesn't mean COVID-19 will disappear, that safe travel will be reinstated, or that your can expect to find yourself indoors at busy bars for a happy hour. But it does mean we can expect the opportunity to integrate all of the changes our lives have undergone and begin to assimilate a new sense of destiny for ourselves in our emerging (and very different) world.

Resilience is the ability to face life exactly as it is and do what we can to make it better. When we hold a growth mindset, we understand that showing up to life, and exerting effort to make it better, changes our outcomes. We are about to enter multiple consecutive months that are far easier to manage from an astrological perspective than anything we’ve seen since 2019. With the onslaught of continuous stress that we’ve all experienced for the last year, we may just find ourselves with an opportunity for repair in the very near future.
