Surfers make better students–take that Jeff Spicoli

Stoked Mentoring is a bi-coastal program that uses action sports like surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding, to get teens to stay in school. It’s sort of the adolescent version of bribing a toddler with treats when potty training, but apparently Stoked has an 100% success rate. Founded by Steve Larosiliere and Sal Masekela (E! Entertainment TV personality), there’s a Spring Benefit Art Auction at Milk Studios on May 19th. If you’re interested in hanging with Joy Behar and toasting teen skateboarders, tickets are $75 and you can spend even more on artwork by Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Spencer Tunick and many others.
