office eatingOffice life seriously messes with your healthy eating habits, according to new information that includes over a million data points.

The data was collected by The Eatery, an iPhone app launched by Massive Health in early November that allows users to track what they eat throughout the day and rate other peoples’ choices as “fit or fat.”

The most interesting findings?

In San Francisco and New York City, “people tend to eat healthy where they live, and poorly at work,” Massive Health reported in a blog post.

Also, healthy eating habits decline throughout the day. Apparently we’re happy to reach for oatmeal in the morning, but as workday stresses pile up, we tend to stray. “It isn’t until people get home after work that we start to see them eating healthier again. Dinner, on average though, never regains the healthiness of breakfast,” reports the Massive Health blog.

Co-founder and CEO Sutha Kamal explained the big idea behind Massive Health, which raised $2.25 million prior to launching.“There is something magical in the intersection of health, motivation, data analysis, and your social graph. That’s where habits are formed, behaviors are changed, and people get healthy.”
