Nekter Juice Bar, based in Orange County, California, plans to open 23 locations in 23 weeks. (Holy, juice!)
The brand first opened in 2010 in Costa Mesa, California—pressing liquid greens for the OC set—and currently has 30-plus locations across Southern California, Arizona, and Texas. The new stores will bring their total to more than 50 and will include spots in Northern California, Colorado, and Las Vegas, and Nevada.
Nekter’s model has always been to offer cold-pressed juices at lower prices, in part by not promising organic produce or billing its blends as raw. The made-to-order blends start at $4.75 for 16 ounces—Jamba Juice can’t even keep up with those prices. The stores, which also make acai bowls, smoothies, and cleanses, will start to serve food this fall. Owners, Steve and Alexis Schulze, describe the new outposts as a “Nekter 2.0, with a farmhouse design.”
“There’s demand, we have the infrastructure, and resources,” says Steve excitedly. And with 23 locations in 23 weeks, they better also have some stamina. —Molly Gallagher
