Welcome to our weekly roundup of wellness tidbits, healthy hints, and new places and products that caught our eye.
Celebs gone vegan. Two more famous faces are joining the ranks of celebrities like Alicia Silverstone and Natalie Portman in adopting, and then advocating for, vegan lifestyles. The newest recruits? Former president Bill Clinton (we suspect Chelsea had something to do with this) and Ellen DeGeneres.
Wage a running war. It’s not too late to challenge Prospect Park’s big hill to a duel in Sunday’s Battle of Brooklyn 10-miler. Register now or sign up on race day for the chance to win a super-cool GPS sports watch from Garmin.
Scrub your feet with diamonds. The traveling pedicurist Bastien Gonzalez, who has a roster of spa-going clients around the world, introduced his newest product this week—the Black Diamond Scrub Mineral Foot Exfoliator. It’s made with diamond powder, mother-of-pearl particles, and volcanic sand. Thank god! Just what we need in this tanking global economy.
Trump-painted toes. In other beauty news, the Spa at Trump in Soho debuted a collection of SpaRitual nail polishes yesterday, all of which are 3-free. We love to see high-end spas offering clean product lines. Plus, there’s a special color for New Yorkers called Central Park View (it’s an emerald green).
Yogi rockers. Yogis have been dancing the night away at studio-turned-night clubs and getting their groove on at Wanderlust events across the country all summer. More proof that they’re ready to rock? A new album, Om Spun, just released (on iTunes) by Groovananda, a collaboration that pairs Kirtan stars and yogi musicians like Wynne Paris with Def Leppard’s drummer, Rick Allen.
British fitness fashion invasion. Fitness fashion brand and UK-import, Sweaty Betty, is kicking off its stateside debut with a Hamptons road show. The high-end brand will showcase pieces of its (freaking adorable) collection at select classes with Tracy Anderson and Yoga Shanti now through September 5.
